SNAKE OIL SALES
Think about this:
a. The number of physicians in the US is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year is 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. (US Dept. of Health &Human
Services)
Then think about this:
a. The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all ages) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times MORE dangerous
than gun owners!
FACT:
NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand.
As a public health measure I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical attention.

Now my two-bits worth. BRM
Well - everyone knows that doctors bury their mystakes and lawyers have a liciense to steal.
And how about this - for every single death attributable to illegal drugs there are 5,000+ deaths from legal drugs! Those darn doctors and wealthy drug companies are making guinea pigs out of us. The 'snake oil' business is alive and healthy.
And hospitals - 500,000 people a year die from something they contracted in the hospital. It is not just all the infectious diseases present - those institutions are unsafe because they have the snake oil salespeople in there too.
For humans - reality is perception. Change peoples perspective and you change their reality. That is the goal of our media and government - to guide our perceptions of things so that we are more fearful of the least dangerous and have little fear of the most threatening situations.
The legal verses illegal drugs is one example of perception manipulation. So we have the 'war on drugs' that cost the taxpayers billions and meanwhile it is the legal drugs that are the more dangerous. If we include the damages brought on by the drugs alcohol and tobacco, now we are talking millions of yearly deaths and trillions of dollars. The Wizard of Oz could not have done better to get people to focus on illusions.
Then there is this 'war on terror' thing. If we spent half the money we are using for this 'homeland security' thing on highway and vehicle safety we would save thousands of lives every year and prevent millions of injuries - many of those injuries cost people their effective lively hood and human potential. 150 people die on our roads every day - but the news focuses on one or two soldiers shot here and there in the 'war on terror'. Hummm. The constitution clearly states that the federal government's primary duty to our citizens is our protection from foreign dangers. We did not need to 're-phrase' that duty with this 'homeland security' idea. The feds screwed up by not have competent cooperation among the various security agencies already in place before 9/11 and now they want to project the perception that it will all work the way it was suppose to work before under the umbrella of this new agency.
The government is in the 'image business' first, and so the 'safety/security business' is just business as usual - protect the profits of those that support the politicians.
