PASSAGE OF YOUTH

Oh that flower of days gone by,
How simple life was - a natural high,
Days of laughter passing on nigh,
Through a metamorphosis - like a butterfly.

Experiences and wisdom have enriched me,
And now I’m happy using less energy,
So why does the world worship thee?
Life begins at sixty!

Yes I’m older now - but not ready to rust,
Maturity has given me depth - left out the fuss,
I’ll leave youth behind - as I must,
And will appreciate life more at seventy - I trust!
